I finally experienced Flank in Waltham, MA! I was beyond thrilled to sit down, relax and take it all in. Flank is a fabulous steakhouse with a twist, featuring the century old tradition of the Beefsteak. This is a tradition where you are encouraged to eat with your hands! As Flank in Waltham brought this tradition back, they introduced the four course entrée, The New American Beefsteak. It includes a seafood course, salad course, beefsteak course and a dessert course to top it all off! Though I did not try this option this time around, my next time at Flank, it’s happening for sure!
With a group of 7 people it makes it really easy to taste numerous dishes, side dishes, entrees and cocktails! Sample everything, get a taste and enjoy!! We had just that in mind as we began to order a little bit of everything. We began with a few starters and cold plate selections of the Roasted Mussels, Beef Carpaccio, the Truffled Giant Prawns and the Broiled Marrow Bones. But before all that, let me mention the delicious Martini’s and glasses of Wine we enjoyed sipped right away!!
A wonderful glass of the Malbec Kaiken Reserve red wine to go with a steak dinner is just perfect. This was my first choice right away! My friends decided to go with the Martini’s instead, which were straight up and so tasty!
The Roasted Mussels in a sweet butter sauce were beyond flavorful! They sat in a herbed tomato and fennel broth. This dish was great to share as each one of us put a few on our plates with all our other starter dishes! I hadn’t yet tried a bone marrow dish before. SO good! The Broiled Marrow Bones were served with caramelized onions on top of the beef with pieces of rye bread. This beef was the Brandt Beef, a melt in your mouth beef off the bone, we could NOT get enough!
Beef Carpaccio, seriously?! Oh my gosh! The sirloin beef with the flavors on top is what makes this dish amazing! Aioli, vinaigrette and a deviled egg with crostini pieces to accompany. Dip into or top a piece of crostini with the sirloin beef. The Giant Prawns were just as flavorful with each prawn topped with Dijon and numerous spices. Now, you may be thinking wow some very different dishees and flavors here, how do you have so much variety? Well, thats the best part! A few of each! It all blended together on our palates perfectly!
Onto our main entrees, the Filet Mignon and the Steak Frites. A combo of Prime Flank Steak with a truffle butter and steaksauces along with a side of fries! The filet also, so easy to cut through and enjoy! As if we didnt have enough already with the amount of starters, cold plates and entrees, I was here to celebrate a friends birthday after all, right?! SO, that calls for dessert!! Chocolate Cake? YES! You cant go wrong with Chocolate Cake for a birthday!
Chocolate and more chocolate!! If your mouth isn’t drooling yet, which I am not sure how possible, head on over to Flank!! Try all this in person OR, The All American Beefsteak and eat with your hands!! I can’t even wait to experience that next time! Go for it!
